St. Clare Catholic Church opened its doors in 1977 as a mission of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Newhall. As our parish family grew, so did our need for space. In response, our current church building was completed in 1988. A few years later, in 1995, construction began on our Mission Church — Blessed Kateri Tekakitha — in the Saugus area of Santa Clarita. Today, now Saint Kateri stands as a thriving parish of its own, continuing to serve a growing Catholic community.
In 2007, St. Clare expanded once again with the addition of two new buildings to provide much‑needed meeting and gathering spaces. These facilities also became home to our Parish Library. We give thanks to God for the many ministries that bring life to our parish: our Hispanic and Filipino communities, the Knights of Columbus, Religious Education programs, Bereavement Ministry, Lectors, Eucharistic Ministers, Ushers, Sunday Coffee and Donuts teams, our Tuesday/Thursday Senior Group, and the countless volunteers who serve with generosity and joy.
As the Santa Clarita Valley continues to grow, all three Catholic parishes in our area are actively expanding and building to meet the needs of an ever‑increasing population.
We warmly welcome you to St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church. We are blessed by your presence and hope you will visit us soon. If you join us for Sunday Mass, please introduce yourself to one of our priests—we would be delighted to meet you.
