A Joyful Easter and a Hope‑Filled Year Ahead for All

From record Easter celebrations to a renewed parish mission, we thank you for the generosity and spirit you bring to our parish as we enter a new year of faith together.

Dear Parishioners:

I trust you all had a great Easter celebration with your family and friends. We had a great Easter Triduum here in the Parish. We have about 36 neophytes baptized during the Easter Vigil Mass. For Easter 2026, the archdiocese expects an even more staggering increase: 8,598 catechumens and candidates. The Holy Spirit is moving people's hearts to go back to the Catholic faith. We thank all our liturgical and hospitality ministers, musicians and choir members, actors and crew of the living stations, members of the altar society, lectors and ushers. We thank you also for your Easter donations and Mass intentions.

Our Parish experienced something that had never happened before during Easter Sunday masses. We have put out chairs outside the patio because the Parish Hall and the Church were full.

As we begin to prepare for the next fiscal year, please stop by the Church Patio after all the Masses for the Sacraments and Parish Registration Information Weekend on April 25–26. The goal of this specific weekend is to help our longtime and new parishioners, OCIA and Religious Education families, answer questions about receiving the sacraments, registration, and online giving. We also encourage families with children/adults with special needs to stop by so we can help you to begin the process receiving the sacraments for our parishioners with special needs. All are welcome.

Thank you for your support of our Fish Fridays this year. We would like to thank all our volunteers from the dining hall, the clean-up/tear-down/set-up crew, the beverages crew, the cashiers, the dessert table volunteers, and the lemon and water donors. We would like to thank Mi Tierra Restaurant, who volunteered (without compensation) their time, energy, and resources to take care of the kitchen.

Espero que todos hayáis disfrutado de una estupenda celebración de Pascua con vuestra familia y amigos. Aquí, en la parroquia, hemos vivido un Triduo Pascual maravilloso. Durante la Misa de la Vigilia Pascual bautizamos a unos 36 neófitos. Para la Pascua de 2026, la archidiócesis prevé un aumento aún más impresionante: 8.598 catecúmenos y candidatos. El Espíritu Santo está moviendo los corazones de las personas para que vuelvan a la fe católica. Damos las gracias a todos nuestros ministros litúrgicos y de acogida, a los músicos y miembros del coro, a los actores y al equipo de las estaciones vivientes, a los miembros de la sociedad del altar, a los lectores y a los ujieres. También les agradecemos sus donativos de Pascua y sus intenciones de misa.

Nuestra parroquia vivió algo que nunca había ocurrido antes durante las misas del Domingo de Pascua. Hemos sacado sillas al patio porque el salón parroquial y la iglesia estaban llenos.

Ahora que empezamos a prepararnos para el próximo año fiscal, les invitamos a pasar por el patio de la iglesia después de todas las misas para informarse sobre el fin de semana dedicado a los sacramentos y a la inscripción parroquial, que tendrá lugar los días 25 y 26 de abril. El objetivo de este fin de semana es ayudar tanto a nuestros feligreses de toda la vida como a los nuevos, así como a las familias de OCIA y de Educación Religiosa, a resolver sus dudas sobre la recepción de los sacramentos, la inscripción y las donaciones en línea. También animamos a las familias con niños o adultos con necesidades especiales a que se acerquen para que podamos ayudarles a iniciar el proceso de recepción de los sacramentos para nuestros feligreses con necesidades especiales. Todos son bienvenidos.

Gracias por su apoyo a nuestros «Viernes de pescado» este año. Queremos dar las gracias a todos nuestros voluntarios del comedor, al equipo de limpieza, desmontaje y montaje, al equipo de bebidas, al cajero, a los voluntarios de la mesa de postres y a los donantes de limones y agua. Celebrating Easter Joy and Parish Blessings Together

With grateful hearts, we honor all who served, prayed, and gave, making this Easter a powerful witness of faith and community.

Dear Parishioners and Guests:

Thank you for joining us this Easter Sunday. It has been an amazing Holy Week and Easter Triduum here in our Parish. I thank everyone who participated, volunteered, visited, and donated Easter flowers to our Parish.

I want to thank our:

Clergy, Permanent Deacons, and their wives
Sacristans, lectors, EMs, and ushers
Choir members and musicians
Environmental Society and different parish ministries
Hispanic Passion Play Crew and Actors
Altar Servers, money counters, hospitality, and envelope ministry
Volunteers and the Parish Staff

We welcome our neophytes and those fully initiated into the Catholic Church over the Easter Vigil. We are grateful to our OCIA team, RE department, and all our catechists. Thank you for journeying with them this year.

The Fish Fry 2026 report will be published soon. Thank you to our patrons, cashiers, dining, take-out, beverages, set-up/clean-up crew, kitchen volunteers, and online donors during Fish Fry. We thank those who donated cases of water bottles, lemons, and desserts. We thank our parishioners, friends, and volunteers who donated their time, skills, and money to support this annual project, helping the underprivileged in our society through our beneficiaries and charitable agencies we support throughout the year.

Our safety and security projects are almost complete. We have installed cameras throughout the campus, both indoors and outdoors. We fixed the fence along the wash and behind our Lady of Sorrow Grotto. We have also installed new walls and fences along Calla Way, as well as the new gates at our entryways.

The inside and the front of the Parish Hall continue to be renovated for our Religious Education and VBS students, parish events, ministry groups, and the fish fry, so all of us can enjoy them.

We have maximized our space around the campus — parking and outdoor space — we could not have done all of these without your generosity for all our Parish upgrades and initiatives. We have accomplished many projects because of your support and trust.

Keep the faith. Keep the fire burning in your hearts as we celebrate the resurrected Christ this Easter season.

También hemos instalado nuevos muros y cercas a lo largo de Calla Way, así como las nuevas puertas en nuestras entradas.

El interior y la fachada del salón parroquial continúan siendo renovados para nuestros estudiantes de educación religiosa y de la Escuela Bíblica de Vacaciones (VBS), eventos parroquiales, grupos de ministerio y el “Fish Fry”, para que todos podamos disfrutarlos.

Hemos aprovechado al máximo nuestro espacio alrededor del campus —estacionamiento y espacio al aire libre—; no podríamos haber hecho todas las mejoras e iniciativas de nuestra parroquia sin su generosidad. Hemos logrado muchos proyectos gracias a su apoyo y confianza.

Mantengan la fe. Mantengan el fuego encendido en sus corazones mientras celebramos a Cristo resucitado en esta temporada de Pascua.

We Have Many Opportunities To Pray During This Lenten Season.

A season to return to God through prayer, charity, and community—join us as we walk together in faith, service, and spiritual renewal.

Dear Parishioners:

I hope you are all having a great Lenten season. We have many opportunities to pray during this Lent.

Visit the outdoor and indoor stations of the Cross.
Fridays of Lent, Confession at 4PM - 5 PM, the Spanish (6 PM) and English (7 PM) Stations of the Cross, and a Holy Hour (8 PM-9 PM) for silence and contemplation.
We partnered with the Hallow App for our parishioners to use for spiritual enrichment digitally, for your friends and family to avail
The tri-parish 24 Hour Confession is on Friday, March 13th, starting at 9 AM at OLPH. Please note that there will be no confession here at our Parish on that day. Our Parish Lenten Prayer Service is on Monday, March 23rd at 6 PM, St. Kateri is on Tuesday, March 24th at 7 PM, and OLPH is on Wednesday, March 25th at 7 PM as well.
Thursday, March 19th at 7PM, Mass for the Feast of St. Joseph and Meet and Greet for St. Clare's Men's Group.

I invite everyone - young families with their children, teens, young adults, and all our parishioners for this Lenten prayerful experience in our Parish. You can stop by the church before or after you go to the Fish Fry, or on your way home from work. Lent is a season for rebuilding and refocusing in our spiritual life through fasting and almsgiving. Fish Fry is one of many ways to give alms: this year, as a Parish will support and help:

Friars of the Poor of Jesus who minister on Skid Row
St. Agnes Catholic Church who runs a food pantry
Carousel Ranch who provides equestrian therapy for special needs children

All beneficiaries work closely with the underprivileged of our society. If you are practicing fasting on Fridays of Lent, you may support our parish financially by using our parish's online giving QR code (on the front page) and clicking the ‘ Charity ' tab. Proceeds go to charitable institutions and other groups in the Santa Clarita area, and we support them year-round. Thank you for your help and generosity.

I had a conversation with one of our long-time parishioners one early Sunday morning - he mentioned the "Together in Mission" campaign and our Friday Fish Fry, which are great opportunities to help the poor. He added, "We have an obligation to remember the poor." I was moved by his comments and gave me more time to reflect and pray more deeply for our less privileged brothers and sisters. Oftentimes, the poor get ignored, but during this season, we can help. So, for those of you who contribute to Together in Mission and support our Lenten Fish Fridays, thank you.

I remember the Gospel of Matthew 26:11: "The poor you will always have with you," not as an excuse to ignore poverty, but an invitation for ongoing solidarity and love for the marginalized.

We are all on many levels, and we have different needs - some are obvious, and some are hidden. Remember the words of Jesus always - "Love God and your neighbor", during this Lenten season, make sacrifices for others, and offer to God all the discomfort of life; we have brothers and sisters who do not even know where the next meal is coming from.

Lent is about fasting. We fast so we detach ourselves from material things, which hinders our good relationship with God. We abstain from bad thoughts and bad intentions, so we become holy in mind, body, and spirit. We abstain from gossip and spreading rumors, so we may become more advocates of peace.

Lent is only once a year; we have a chance to better ourselves, in the eyes of God, others, and ourselves. Lent is an invitation to look more deeply into our own spiritual growth and to get closer to God. Holy Week is fast approaching. We still have time to focus on our spiritual life - "Come and you will see." John 1:39.

Espero que todos estén teniendo un gran tiempo durante esta Cuaresma. Tenemos muchas oportunidades para orar

durante este tiempo.

Visiten el Vía Crucis al aire libre y el que está dentro de la iglesia.
Los viernes de Cuaresma habrá confesiones de 4 PM a 5 PM, el Vía Crucis en español a las 6 PM y en inglés a las 7 PM, y una Hora Santa de 8 PM a 9 PM para silencio y contemplación.
Nos hemos asociado con la aplicación Hallow para que nuestros feligreses puedan usarla para su enriquecimiento espiritual digitalmente, y para que sus familiares y amigos también puedan aprovecharla.
La confesión de 24 horas de las tres parroquias será el viernes 13 de marzo, comenzando a las 9 AM en OLPH. Tengan en cuenta que ese día no habrá confesiones en nuestra parroquia. Nuestro Servicio de Oración Cuaresmal será el lunes 23 de marzo a las 6 PM; St. Kateri tendrá el suyo el martes 24 de marzo a las 7 PM, y OLPH el miércoles 25 de marzo también a las 7 PM.
El jueves 19 de marzo a las 7 PM tendremos la Misa por la Fiesta de San José y un encuentro social para el Grupo de Hombres de St. Clare.

Invito a todos-familias jóvenes con sus hijos, adolescentes, jóvenes adultos y todos nuestros feligreses-a vivir esta

experiencia de oración cuaresmal en nuestra parroquia. Pueden pasar por la iglesia antes o después de ir al Fish Fry, o de

camino a casa después del trabajo. La Cuaresma es un tiempo para reconstruir y reenfocar nuestra vida espiritual a

través del ayuno y la limosna. El Fish Fry es una de las muchas maneras de dar limosna: este año, como parroquia

apoyaremos y ayudaremos a:

Nos abstenemos de los malos pensamientos y de las malas intenciones para llegar a ser santos de mente, cuerpo y espíritu. Nos abstenemos del chisme y de difundir rumores para convertirnos en verdaderos promotores de la paz.

La Cuaresma es solo una vez al año; tenemos la oportunidad de mejorar ante los ojos de Dios, de los demás y de nosotros mismos. La Cuaresma es una invitación a mirar más profundamente nuestro propio crecimiento espiritual y acercarnos más a Dios. La Semana Santa se acerca rápidamente. Todavía tenemos tiempo para enfocarnos en nuestra vida espiritual - "Vengan y verán.” Juan 1, 39.

We Look Forward To the New Year With Renewed Energy

We look forward to the new year with renewed hope, fresh energy, and a deep sense of anticipation for all that lies ahead.

Dear St Clare Families and Friend:

I hope you all had a great Christmas week and New Year's.

Our parish had been very busy with all the festivities and well-attended liturgies in December. I hope and trust that you were spiritually nourished by the events and prayers we shared across different cultures this past month. I am grateful for the involvement of all parishioners, guests, volunteers, the parish staff, and clergy in various events and activities. I appreciate your continued ministerial, financial, and spiritual support. As you look around our campus, you will see many upgrades and beautification projects for all of us to enjoy now and in the years to come.

As we begin in 2026, the parish will shift its focus to one of our most significant events of the year - the 48th Fish Fry - you will see the letter of statement from Bishop Albert Bahhuth as we comply to the health department requirements. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we move forward in this new direction.

Our parish is alive and vibrant; we are grateful to God for all the blessing we receive each day. I appreciate your patience as we accommodate the needs and requests of different ministries and liturgies.

Estimadas familias y amigos de Santa Clara:

Espero que todos hayan tenido uno excelente semana de Navidad y Ano Nuevo.

Nuestra parroquia ha estado muy occupada con todas las fastivedades y liturgias muy concurridas en diciembre. Espero y confio en que se hayan nutrido espititualmente con los eventos y oraciones que compartimos entre diferentes culturas durante el mes pasado. Agradezco la participacion de todos los feligresses, invitados, voluntarios, el personal de la parroquia y el clero en los diversos eventos y actividades. Agradezco su continuo apoyo ministerial, financiero y espiritual. Al mirar alrededor de nuestro campus, veran muchas mejoras y proyectos de embellecimiento para que todos disfrutemos ahora y en los anos venideros.

Al comenzar el 2026, la parroquia centrara su atencion en uno de nuestra eventos mas importantes del ano, el 48 Fish Fry. Veran la carta del obispo Albert Bahhuth en la que se cumplen los requisitos del departamento de salud. Gracias por su compronsion y cooperacion mientras avanzamos en esta nueva direccion.

Events Highlight and Upgrades Around Our Church Property

Our Saint Clare Parish family is growing steadily, and we are joyfully making improvements around the church to better serve our community.

The Parish conducted the annual Mass count in October, as asked by the Archdiocese of LA, every year:

Year 2023 - 11,860
Year 2024 - 14,158
Year 2025 - 15,983

We saw an increase in attendance again this year of just under 13%. It is noticeable that our Masses are filling up, and

some are standing-room-only. Our Religious Education students and Confirmation candidates total 574 for this school

year.

I want to highlight some upgrades around our church property:

More parking spaces along Calla Way and additional accessible parking spaces, handrails, and wider walkways around the Church.
Installation of indoor and outdoor cameras, and new fencing along the wash and the front of the church property (new wall and fencing). We also hired evening security personnel to ensure everyone's safety.
The tapestry has been framed individually, as the material has deteriorated over the years due to dust. Framing the tapestry will preserve the material and ensure it lasts for a long time.
The Parish Hall has been newly painted, and new windows have been installed for the Music room (Frassati Room) and the Pope's room (Pope Francis Room).
We are fixing the front of the Parish Hall (Fr. Bank's Community Center) to be part of the Religious Education Garden, so our young ones have more space and it can also serve as a parents' waiting area.
A playground will be installed next to the children's room and the library, so our young families can attend Mass and care for their children at the same time.
Our Parish has partnered with the Hallow App to reach out to many individuals and families. Please watch out for the launch of this digital parish-wide project.
Ministry representatives have gone through a Food Handling Safety Class.
We have improved our Parish website to be more user-friendly.

Congratulations to Rev. Mr. Jerick Alenton, who has been ordained as a transitional deacon on November 22nd, in the

Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels. His Thanksgiving Mass is on Sunday, November 23rd, at the 11 AM Mass.

Our parish continues to grow, and the demand for facility use has increased as well. I ask all the ministries to be creative

in how they share the space with others and to be mindful of scheduling requests. I also ask our drivers to slow down

our parish parking lot for everyone's safety, especially on Sundays and weeknights when our young ones are on campus.

You can use the drop-off and designated walkways.

I strongly encourage those new to our Parish ministry to attend Virtus training and fingerprinting sessions throughout the

San Fernando Region. This is a mandatory requirement from the archdiocese.

I am asking for everyone's patience, as we have very limited space to accommodate ministry requests and must make

necessary adjustments for the well-being of Parish members, guests, clergy, and staff. We are grateful to all of you for

making St. Clare your spiritual and ministerial home. We are here to serve you, and we keep praying for each other that

we may be faithful disciples of Jesus Christ.

Our Lord Jesus Christ, King Of The Universe

From the cross He reigns eternal, revealing that true kingship is found not in power, but in mercy and love.

Not long ago, I was called to a hospital to anoint a woman in her early 80s. She was dying, and visibly in pain. But what struck me most wasn't her suffering - it was the atmosphere in the room. She had eight children and 30 foster kids, and many of them were gathered around her. You'd expect sorrow, fear, maybe even despair. But the room was filled with something else entirely - a quiet strength, a kind of sweetness. It was as if she was suffering not just with them, but for them. And they, in love, were suffering for her. The pain was real. But so was the peace. I didn't want to run. I felt as if I was in a little paradise, beeping machines and all. I think of that moment when I hear today's Gospel. Jesus, hanging on the cross, doesn't look like a king. But one of the crucified, dying men beside him sees through the suffering and says, "Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom" (Luke 23:42). That word - remember - literally means to make someone a member again. He's asking to be joined to Christ, to become part of his Body. And Jesus says, " Today you will be with me in paradise ."

He doesn't say, "I'll take your suffering away." He says, " You will be with me. "

That's the strange power of Christ the King. He doesn't rule by avoiding suffering. He reigns by entering into it, and transforming it with love. What are you suffering right now in your life? Likely you want it to stop. But if we are willing to suffer with him - paradise begins even today.
